Bee Removal – Aggressive bees in the late winter/ early spring
With the warm late winter that we’ve experienced in Colorado, the honey bees are already out foraging, and swarms are becoming more prevalent. If you have noticed aggressive bees that seem to sting for no reason or are clearly agitated, there may be several reasons why. Lanoix’s Bees can help you with a Colorado bee removal if you have noticed aggressive bees in your area.
The bees that come out to forage this time of year find very few nectar sources available. This can cause a behavior in bees known as robbing; a behavior usually seen in the late fall. Bees will try to steal honey stores from other colonies in times of scarcity. Entering a foreign hive and a place where they are not welcome, requires the bees to be aggressive to be able to get in, get the honey, and escape without being injured or killed. This aggressive behavior can be seen outside the hive as well in the form of hitting (bees that seem to fly into you purposely) and even stinging unsuspecting passersby.
If you are seeing these kinds of behaviors, know that the bees will most likely start to mellow out once the nectar flow begins. A hive that is seems to be aggressive all summer may have other issues that go back to the health of the colony. If you are experiencing this type of aggressive behavior, contact a specialist for help. One should not think that bees sting for no reason. There is always a reason, and it is up to us to understand why so we may live in harmony with these special little creatures.
